Pictou County businesses invited to new initiative

PICTOU COUNTY, N.S. — Retailers in Pictou County are being invited to join a new joint initiative between the Pictou County Chamber of Commerce and the Pictou County Regional Enterprise Network (PCREN) they’re calling the Shop Here Pictou County Program.

The program will provide successful applicants a space at pictoucounty.com and access to digital marketing workshops.

Successful applicants will also get support for product photography and branding both online and in print to help connect their business with Pictou County residents.

Pictoucounty.com is a community website run by the PCREN that will feature information on products, services and experiences offered in Pictou County.

Jack Kyte, executive director of Chamber said businesses will be able to market their products to a community audience while learning more about digital marketing opportunities.

“Joining the efforts to support the work already underway at the PCREN through the pictoucounty.com site is a win-win for everyone,” he added.

The initiative is being funded a by $40,000 nonrepayable contribution to the Pictou County Chamber of Commerce by The Atlantic Chamber of Commerce.

The Atlantic Chamber of Commerce, through the Shop Local Funding Initiative, is providing the Pictou County Chamber of Commerce with a non-repayable contribution of $40,000 to support the Shop Here Pictou County program.

“The Pictou County Chamber of Commerce is a great partner of the PCREN. We are thrilled to jointly partner on this initiative to support our business community,” said Heidi Sinclair, Interim CEO, PCREN. “The past year and a half has highlighted the benefits of digital marketing and being online. We hope that this collective website will be an online gateway into our community providing an alternative means to find and connect with local retailers regardless if you are in Pictou County or around the world.”

Businesses can find applications to join the program at pictoucounty.com/shop-here/ shop-application/, the deadline for submitted applications is Oct. 28 at 4 p.m.
