Police ticketed and warned over 100 drivers

PICTOU COUNTY— Police in Pictou County teamed up to promote safe driving, stopping to check over 2,000 vehicles on July 16.

In a July 19 release, Pictou County District RCMP said they and their traffic officers along with N.S. Vehicle Compliance, New Glasgow, Westville and Stellarton Police Services partnered to organize multiple checkpoints in areas of high volume collisions and reports of speeding vehicles.

As a result of the operation, police said they laid 81 provincial charges, issued 60 warnings and nine defect notices.

Charges included driving without a valid inspection sticker, without a seatbelt as well as without driving licence and driving an unregistered vehicle.

Police said their teams were located on Westville Road, Maclellan’s Brook Road, Egypt Road, Stellarton Trafalgar Road, River John, Lyons Brook, Trenton/Abercrombie and Three Brooks Road throughout the day.
