Motorcyclist airlifted to Halifax after serious accident

NEW GLASGOW — A motorcyclist was airlifted to Halifax with life-threatening injuries following a collision in New Glasgow on July 16.

At approximately 12:05 p.m. emergency crews responded to a call of a twovehicle motor vehicle collision involving an SUV and a motorcycle on the northbound lane of East River Road between Pine Street and Atlantic Drive.

The motorcycle driver, a 56-year-old man, sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital by Emergency Health Services and transported by life flight to the QEII Health Science Centre in Halifax. The 63-year-old male driver of the SUV sustained non-lifethreatening injuries and was taken to Aberdeen Hospital by Emergency Health Services.

Emergency Crews and New Glasgow Public Works closed East River Road to traffic

for more than two and a half hours.

A collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing. No updates on the condition of the motorcyclist were available by press deadline.
