MOLYNEAUX, John "Cecil"

On Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island (PEI), just shy of his 90th birthday and with his family by his side, John "Cecil" Molyneaux passed away peacefully. Cecil Molyneaux was born on July 1, 1933 to Roy and Mary (McKenna) Molyneaux , in Charlottetown, PEI. Cecil lived in many places over the years, but his love and life were in Kelly's Cross, PEI, where he continued to attend church services every Saturday until his passing. Husband, father, Grampie, and Great Grampie: Cecil was better known to all of us simply as “Grampie.” Grampie was a lucky man who had the good fortune to have been loved by two wonderful women, Mary (Matters) Molyneaux and Dorothy (Webster) Molyneaux (both deceased). Cecil is leaving behind many who loved him and is joining those who have gone before him. Cecil is survived by his brother Lloyd, married to Marina, and his sister Dorothy (PEI), as well as siblings-inlaw, Sister Rita Matters and Joe Matters. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Patricia, (Leroy d.) and whom we cannot thank enough for her kindness. In the afterlife he joins his brother Leroy and sister Marie (Eddie), as well as his brothers-in-law Jim Matters (Lois), and Walter Matters (Marg). Cecil leaves behind his children, listed from oldest to youngest: Austin (deceased), (Tammy Doratty, British Columbia); Ken, (Kathy, Alberta); Merrill (m. Trudy Klassen, Alberta); Darlene (Jack) Lowther (PEI); Elaine, (PEI); Jacqueline (Bob Petrie) (PEI); Brian (Leanne), N.S.; Kim (Steven Curly) PEI; Robert, (Alberta); and Louis (Catherine) Alberta. Grampie also has two step-sons, David, (ON.), and Doug Webster, (MB.). He was also blessed with many grandchildren: Tamara, Chris, Jacqueline, Amanda, Rob, Riley Kelly, Kelsey Courtney, Michael, Patrick, Meagan, Mikayla, Hana, Matthew, Cory, Jordan, Brienna, Kailey, Mitchell, Noah, Austin, Erica and Jesse. Cecil was also blessed with many great-grandchildren. Cecil will be dearly missed by his many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at the QEH who were so kind to our dear Dad. We would like to thank Jamie Thomson for his gentleness with Dad. To his neighbours, we will be forever grateful for all that they have done to help Dad as he aged. To Carla Murphy, whom Cecil considered his other daughter: thank you for all your help and kindness. The family extends a thank you to all who were in Cecil's life; he truly treasured you. Grampie loved a good party and could dance a jig no matter the occasion. Family and friends were planning on attending his upcoming 90th birthday party on July 1, so the family has decided to honour Grampie by holding the funeral and the Celebration of Life on that date. A wake will be held at the Hennessey Funeral Home in Charlottetown, Friday, June 30 from 3-7 p.m. Funeral service held at St. Joseph's Parish on July 1 at 10:30 a.m. Dad-Grampie - you will be forever loved and missed. We love you! If so desired, donations may be made to St. Joseph's Parish or St. Joseph's Cemetery Fund. If you plan on attending the wake and funeral service, please do not wear any scents. There will be a celebration of life in the St. Joseph's Parish Centre (the basement of the church) following the funeral service on July 1.
