Ringette P.E.I. honours, players, teams, coaches

Highlight of the year was the fourth-place finish by 2023 Canada Games team

Ringette P.E.I. and ADL honoured the provinces top athletes and contributors from the 2022-23 season at the West Royalty Community Centre in Charlottetown on May 25.

Ringette P.E.I. had a great year on the ice highlighted by the 2023 Canada Games, with ringette games played in Montague and Charlottetown. The Games were extra special when Team P.E.I. made history on home soil placing fourth overall.

For its efforts, the 2023 Canada Games Team was recognized as the highperformance team of the year was the, and the coach of the year award went to the team’s coach, Francois Caron.

The province’s high-performance teams participated in a number of tournaments, including the Atlantics, which were hosted on P.E.I., the nationals in Regina and the Eastern Canadian Championships in Dieppe, N.B.

The award for high-performance player of the year went to Rorie MacDonald.

Other award winners included: volunteer of the year - Karen MacKinnon; official of the year - Jeff Brine; junior goalie of the year - Julia King; senior goalie of the year Georgia Fraser; U10 player of the year - Ava Gallant; U12 player of the year - Sadie MacDonald; U14 player of the year - Emma Campbell; U16U19 player of the year - Josie MacKinnon; house league team - U12 Souris Bailey;

The highlights throughout the season were made possible because of the coaches, volunteers, officials, parents and athletes who continue to commit their time and effort into this sport.
