MEDICAL HELP NEEDED NOW

This proposed medical training school at UPEI will not be producing doctors for at least 10 years. A decade is a long time to wait for signs of health care improvements. Who even knows what the situation will be in 10 years? The situation is dire, people need to hear of solutions now. The government is spending millions on this training facility yet cannot provide some 30,000 Islanders with doctors. That surely begs the question: where will they find highly qualified teaching doctors?

I think the government needs to concentrate on the issues of the present. Spend money opening these new medical homes and staffing them. If these homes are what we are being told and if they can provide the services promised, then they should be the priority. Properly equipped, these medical homes could ease the pressure on the hospitals. The bottom line is, Islanders need help now
