ANIMAL TRAPS RAISE CONCERNS

I watched a program the other night on Land and Sea about the eagles and also heard some things on the news lately about other animals being caught in snares or traps. Not just animals but our beloved pets.

Next month we are going to be holding the Canada Winter Games. What in the heavens are we, the Islanders, going to do if someone is visiting and is out walking with their dog and it gets caught in a trap just because it went off the walking trail to relieve itself? Or if a child wanders off a trail to get a ball or even to jump in a snowdrift? This is very scary.

The Games will be telecasted everywhere and that would surely put a frown on many people’s faces. We sure won’t look like a safe and fun place to visit and play.
