Award-winning P.E.I. women’s choral ensemble, Sirens Choral Association, is preparing for a series of shows to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Sirens and the eighth season of Harmonia Girls’ Choir.

Artistic director Kelsea Mclean said this season celebrates Sirens’ history and features performances of the performers’ most treasured and iconic choral pieces.

“When thinking about the last decade, we wanted to highlight music that defines our journey but also acknowledges where we are now,” said Mclean.

She says it is surreal for the group to be entering its 10th season.

“What started as a small group of women wanting a place to sing has grown to a thriving singing community.”

The choir kicks off the season at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Charlottetown on Dec. 10 with Winter’s Night with You, in collaboration with Atlantic String Machine.

Harmonia Girls’ Choir is also having its first performance at Park Royal United Church on Dec. 17.

On March 25, Sirens is paying tribute to 10 years of songs in Singers’ Choice at Park Royal United Church in Charlottetown.

Siren singers have selected their favourite pieces from past seasons to create a unique program.

The concert includes performances of Sirens’ three previously commissioned works, Lost Voices by Richard Covey, Sorrow Song of Whales by Jeff Enns and In Her Image by Katerina Gimon.

Harmonia Girls’ Choir closes its season on April 29 with You have Made Me, Earth at Park Royal United Church.

Sirens finish its season in June with Spark, a collection of songs that look at music’s place in the community.
