SOBEY, Carl A.

The death occurred July 18, 2022, in Sacramento, California of Carl Sobey, formerly of Summerside P.E.I., aged 68 years. Carl died as a result of

an accident which occurred near his home on June 7, 2022. Carl was the youngest son of George Alva Sobey and Rowena Amy Lockhart. He was born November 3,

1953, in Summerside, P.E.I. He is survived by his older brothers, Doug (Gilbert Hughes) of Bedeque and Belfast Northern Island and Dale (Trish Cheverie) and nephew Alec of Clinton and numerous cousins. Carl graduated from Summerside High School in 1971. He travelled to Shafter California where he worked for the Joe O’brien stable carrying on the family involvement in the standardbred horse racing industry. At the time of his death, he had been employed by the state of California as a track official for 33 years, lastly at Cal Expo in Sacramento, California. Carl’s ashes will be interred in the family plot located at
