Musical duo special guest at concert series

The Egg Farmers of Prince Edward Island Close to the Ground concert series continues Aug. 11, 8 p.m., at Kaylee Hall, Pooles Corner.

Fiddlers' Sons and Keelin and Wedge welcome special guests Julie Lynn Arsenault and Danny Drouin, who have been making music together for close to 14 years.

In 2016, Drouin asked Arsenault to join his band, Renegade. Then in early 2020, they decided to take the next step and break out on their own as a duo. They released their first single, Me and You, and made the top 100 in the CBC Searchlight contest in 2021. They also just released their debut full length album, Dreams, and received four Music P.E.I. Award nominations.

Arsenault, who has an extensive background as a bluegrass artist, was part of the group 2 plus 3 and toured the bluegrass circuit. She brings her lead vocals and harmonies to the stage along with her love of bluegrass, country and pop music, which comes to life in the songs she writes. She released her debut album called Broken Strings in 2012.

Drouin has been playing guitar since he was 13 and has played with bands and artist throughout P.E.I. With numerous Music P.E.I. nominations, he has been a staple in the province’s music scene. A writer of personal experiences, he released his first album, It’s Been a Long Week, in 2017 and released an EP in 2020 called Half a Pack from Friday.

The Kaylee Hall is at the intersection of route 3 and 4 near Montague. There will be a canteen service, a 50-50 draw and books and CDS available for sale from the performers. There are only seven shows left at Kaylee Hall, as the hall is changing hands in the fall and will no longer host entertainment.
