P.E.I. group holding vigil on Aug. 10

A group concerned with current provincial COVID-19 protections is holding a candlelight vigil in Charlottetown honouring the people who have died due to COVID19 in P.E.I.

Protect Our Province P.E.I. is holding the vigil in Rochford Square on Aug. 10, 8:30 p.m.

The group says it is holding the vigil to honour the memory of people who have died from COVID-19 and to challenge what it calls "the lack of public health precautions" in P.E.I. It is calling on the provincial government to make KN95 and N95 masks mandatory and free, provide accurate COVID-19 information on a regular basis and freely provide COVID rapid tests.

The group also wants the province to improve ventilation and HEPA air filtration in all public buildings and provide workers with a minimum of 10 paid sick days.

N95 masks will be freely available at the vigil, and all attendees are requested to mask up and socially distance.
