Woman dies in collision

A 28-year-old Queens County woman is dead after two vehicles collided on the morning of Aug. 9 in Hampton.

East Prince RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision just after 8 a.m. on Route 1, where the woman was pronounced dead on scene, said Sgt. Chris Gunn of the RCMP.

The other driver, a 36-yearold woman, was transported to hospital with non-lifethreatening injuries, he said.

An investigation into how the accident happened is underway, with a collision analyst currently on the scene. However, Gunn said weather conditions could have contributed.

“There was heavy rain and water on the road that may have contributed to the collision,” he said. “At this time in the initial investigation, one of the vehicles crossed the centre yellow line and collided with the second, oncoming vehicle.”

The drivers of each car were the lone occupants of the vehicles.

Gunn said the road was still closed as of 12 p.m., and traffic was being detoured while the collision analyst worked on the scene.
