Prince Edward Islanders will be treated to an all-new retelling of the holiday classic, Elf, when Elf Jr. The Musical hits the stage at the Guild in Charlottetown, Dec. 3-5.

The show will feature songs by Tony Award-nominees Matthew Skylar and Chad Beguelin and a book by Tony Award-winners Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin.

The first show kicks off at 7 p.m. on Dec. 3 followed by two 4 p.m. shows on Dec. 4 and Dec. 5.

In a Nov. 16 release, Guild officials said the fish-outof-water comedy musical is based on the original movie following the story Buddy the Elf, a young orphan who mistakenly crawls into Santa Claus’ bag of gifts and is taken to the North Pole, in his journey of self-discovery.

The would-be elf is raised unaware he is a human until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth.

With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and unravel the truth behind who he is.

When he arrives, Buddy is faced with the harsh reality of his father being on the naughty list and his halfbrother not believing in Santa Claus.

That doesn’t stop Buddy and reality only makes him more determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.
