PEERS Alliance in P.E.I. is hosting an open house event in Charlottetown to commemorate World AIDS Day on Dec. 1.

Announced in a Nov. 30 release, the event will feature a candle-lighting ceremony for remembrance as well as promote information for people who want to learn more about HIV care and prevention.

The open house will take place 3-6 p.m. at 250B Queen St. HIV Insti-tests kits will be demonstrated and made available to community members interested in an associated research project.

PEERS Alliance will also be highlighting Indigenous AIDS Awareness Week, which will be observed Dec. 1-7.

PEERS said members will discuss how the world is off track from delivering on a global commitment to end AIDS by 2030.

Officials said the delay is not due to a lack of knowledge but due to structural inequalities that need to be addressed.
