Gas prices drop in unscheduled change

The price of gas went down unexpectedly overnight as the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission (IRAC) announced a 5.0 cents per litre drop.

That price change, effective 12:01 a.m. on Dec. 1, was an unscheduled adjustment with gas, furnace oil and diesel all dropping by the same amount.

In adjusting the price, IRAC said it was a result of a significant drop in the price of all petroleum products.

With the change, the price for regular gas at self-serve outlets will range from 136.3 to 137.4 cents per litre (cpl).

Diesel prices will range from 146.6 to 147.8 cpl and the maximum price for furnace oil is 112.2 cpl.

IRAC’s next scheduled pricing adjustment is Dec. 3.
