TOO MANY GAPS IN ACCESSABILITY

AccessAbility clients need to be treated with respect.

There are just so many gaps in the new version of the program that has been running for a few years now. For instance, there is no set policy for assessments and if it is administered incorrectly or low-balled by staff, a person has to wait two years to get another assessment. During this time the individuals are missing out on valuable supports they should be receiving.

When people can prove there are errors in their assessment, they just go back to policy. You have to wait two years, unless a doctor can explain what “new” things are wrong, not existing things. There are no proper supports for the mental health help they are supposed to be providing.

This is a joke. They don't even provide for a home helper to take a person to get groceries, go to the doctor or other errands and appointments.

It seems like the employees own the federal dollars to help people with disabilities. They seem to low-ball everyone and not go over the parameters, even when they know the person critically needs those supports.

These things have to be changed in policy and workers have to respect clients and treat them like a person and not like crap, hurting their mental health even more.
