Concert set for Indian River Festival on July 25

KENSINGTON, P.E.I. — The Indian River Festival (IRF) is returning to the acoustically ed venue of historic St. Mary’s Church with a diverse list of notable musicians.

The festival, which is back this year after being cancelled due to COVID-19, showcases artists in diverse genres like folk, jazz, roots, classical, choral, traditional and contemporary from across Prince Edward Island. It is also celebrating its 25th anniversary this summer.

The festival is featuring a classical program on July 25, 3 p.m., with Christina Bouey and Magdalena von Eccher performing music by Franck, Lili Boulanger and original compositions. Bouey will be performing with her 293-year-old Artot Stradivarius instrument, ending the concert with a suite of five original arrangements.

She will be joined by UPEI piano professor Magdalena von Eccher, one of Canada’s most respected musicians.

Meaghan Blanchard, an ECMA award-winning singersongwriter and one of the most captivating performers and writers in Canadian roots music, performed July 23, joined by Logan Richard and Joce Reyome.
