Lukas Cormier

Who – A 19-year-old SainteMarie-de-Kent, N.B., native and a defenceman with the Charlottetown Islanders of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). Acquired – The Islanders selected Cormier fourth overall at the 2018 draft. He was selected in the third round (68th overall) by the Vegas Golden Knights at the 2020 NHL draft.

The latest – Cormier was named the recipient of the Émile-Bouchard Trophy on Thursday as QMJHL defenceman of the year. Head coach Jim Hulton said: “I think we’ve felt all along that this guy, at some point in his career, was going to be the leading offensive defenceman in our league. It sounds crazy to say we’re not surprised with what he’s done, but he just continues to raise his level of play.”
