More applications being accepted in city

ATLANTIC BRIEFS DESK sw-briefs@saltwire.com

The City of Charlottetown is accepting more grant applications for local environmental initiatives.

In a recent news release, Charlottetown’s Environment and Sustainability Committee announced it opened second round of applications for the 2021 Community Sustainability Micro-Grant Program.

The program offers funding of up to $2,500 to community groups or individuals with ideas that support the city’s integrated community sustainability plan (ICSP).

“Thanks to support from the city’s water and sewer utility, this round of funding will offer two grants to projects that engage the community in sustainability and work towards the water goal of the city’s ICSP,” said the city’s release.

Applications will be reviewed with the criteria being the possible impact on the community, project feasibility and how it contributes to the goal of becoming a more sustainable community.

Applicants must be able to complete their project in Charlottetown in 2021.

Applicants must also follow all directions from the Chief Public Health Office when developing projects. Anyone who fails to account for current regulations will not be considered.

Applications for large-scale public events are discouraged because of rapidly changing public gathering regulations, noted the release.

The deadline to apply is Wednesday, June 23, at 2 p.m.
