MCCARTHY, Shirley McAleer

Wife of Leo McCarthy. Mother of Wilfred Walsh with his partner Ron Byrne. Shirley started life on St. Patrick’s Road as the daughter of Wilfred and Eileen McAleer (Deceased). She had loving brother and sister, Alison McAleer and Kay McCardle (Deceased). She is survived by brother John McAleer and sisters Colleen Larkin and Darlene MacKinnon. She became Shirley Walsh when she married her first love Stephen Walsh(Deceased) and had her surviving son,Wilfred whom she cherished. An infant son Shawn, died just days after his birth. Something she never got over. A few years later she became Shirley Macfarlane when she married Ralph Macfarlane (Deceased) and again had to bury a loving husband not long after. Shirley was lucky enough to have love find her when she met and married Leo McCarthy. Leo was her rock to the end. He gave her strength and support. Leo brought with him his daughters Lori and Sheri to the family. Shirley had many friends, young and old, who held a place in her heart. Always a good Friday night was had. As a successful business woman owning her own business, Ann Shirley’s Beauty Salon, she was also a member of the PEI Hairdressers Association. It was her life’s passion besides gardening. Over the years Shirley got to travel spending winters in Florida,Arizona,Thailand and travels thru Europe. Shirley leaves behind many from her loving McAleer family on St Patrick’s Road. Also the Walsh family whom she always loved as they did her. The Macfarlane’s always remembered and all the McCarthy family. She loved them all. Also her many nieces and nephews,who always got her smile and probably a drink with Aunt Shirl. Mary Dunn was her double first cousin/sister/friend. They had a bond talking almost daily. Also to be mentioned is the support of Ann Pratt (Cousin), Linda Paugh and Sylvia Macphail for the wonderful Home Care and support they gave. Shirley died with her 2 loves beside her till the end and went peacefully in her sleep and will be missed. Cremation has taken place and a Celebrate of Life will be held in the future.
