QMJHL Maritimes Division final
What – The Maritimes Division final of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League will see the Charlottetown Islanders and Acadie-Bathurst Titan play a best-of-five series.
Where, when – The series is taking place in Shawinigan, Que., due to COVID-19. Games 1 and 2 are tonight and Sunday, respectively, at 5 p.m. Atlantic.
QMJHL playoff format – The six Quebec-based teams are playing best-offive quarter-final series in Quebec City. The winner of the Maritimes Division final will head to Quebec City to play in one of the semifinals. It hasn’t been announced if it will be a five- or seven-game series. The semifinal winners will play for the President Cup in a best-of-seven affair.
Most playoff experience for the Islanders – Brett Budgell and Thomas Casey each have 24 games of playoff experience, including 18 contests in their rookie seasons of 2018.
Addition – The Islanders are adding goalie Paolo Marabella to the roster for the playoffs. The sixth-round pick (106th overall) from the 2020 draft is a Montreal-area native. He will join the team after his third negative COVID19 test in seven days, which could be today or Sunday. He will be their third goalie behind Colten Ellis and Justin Goobie.
