One new COVID-19 case in P.E.I.

Dr. Heather Morrison, P.E.I.’s chief public health officer, announced one new case of COVID-19 in the province on Friday, May 7.

The new confirmed case is a person in their 30s, who had recently travelled outside of Atlantic Canada.

Health officials said the person tested positive during routine testing. The individual is self-isolating and being followed by public health officials.

Contact tracing is currently underway, but officials are asking that anyone who was at the following locations, during the listed times, to get tested for COVID-19.

• Pilot House (70 Grafton St., Charlottetown) on Monday, May 3, noon to 2 p.m. (if exposed, get tested on Saturday, May 8).

• Montana’s (31 Babineau Ave., Charlottetown) on Thursday, May 6, 4:30-5:30 p.m. (if exposed, get tested on Sunday, May 9).

Officials are also asking that anyone who was at the following location at the following time to monitor for symptoms and get tested if any appear.

• Home Hardware (115 St. Peter’s Rd., Charlottetown) on Thursday, May 6, 10:3011:30 a.m.

Friday’s case brings the total number of active cases in the province to 10. P.E.I. has had 186 total cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.
