Halifax-based health food brand under new ownership
The Halifax-based company Earthproof Protein, which produces sustainable and healthy food alternatives, is now under the ownership of Pat Murphy and Scott Berty of PS Brands. Announced in a recent news release, co-founders Lizz Gosselin and Sarah Riley said the unique product line featuring nutritious alternatives with low environmental impact has been acquired for its substantial growth potential. “From our first meeting with PS Brands, we were impressed with their commitment to environmental sustainability, the e-commerce expertise they brought to the table, and their considerable US-based network," said Riley. "We knew they were a great fit to take the brand to the next level." Berty said he is looking forward to the future of the brand. “We're excited about the possibility of establishing this brand as a leader in the alternative protein industry and creating a positive impact on the earth with our growing community of customers," he said. Earthproof offers a line of environmentally friendly protein options like cricket, algae, spirulina protein powders and cricket protein bars. The alternative was developed in Nova Scotia with the help of Acadia University's Centre for the Sensory Research of Food. The sale marks the first major acquisition for Riley and Gosselin, also the cofounders of growing sustainability and communications consultancy, R&G Strategic.
