VAN DUSEN, Evan Kiel

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of our beloved Evan Kiel Van Dusen, a loving son, devoted father, and accomplished rig driller from Lower Sackville. Evan passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully at his home in Edmonton, AB, on May 30, 2023. He was born on November 20, 1987, in North Sydney, to Kim Farrell (Van Dusen, Elliott) and the late Neil Kerr Van Dusen. Professionally, Evan dedicated himself to the oil industry for the past 17 years and reached the pinnacle of his career as a successful driller. His commitment, skill, and unwavering work ethic earned him the respect of his colleagues and made him a valuable asset to the industry. Evan cherished his role as a father and found immense joy in spending time with his beloved son, "prince" Koady Neil Van Dusen. They shared countless adventures, exploring restaurants, entertainment play places, and bonding over video games. Evan will be remembered for his genuine warmth, infectious laughter, and the deep love he had for his family. Although he often struggled with his own demons, he always lent a listening ear or a helping hand to anyone who required it. His blunt advice to his friends and family will be sorely missed. Evan's memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends. His soft soul, concealed within his rough projected exterior, will live on in our hearts forever. May his humor, devotion, and dedication to his loved ones bring a smile to your face and inspire all those who knew him. He is survived by his loving mother, Kim Farrell; stepfather, Ken Farrell; son, Koady (Danielle Deveaux); girlfriend, Ashley Resch; her daughter Selina and son Kash Backstromresch; his brother, Elliott Van Dusen (Sarah Van Dusen); sisters, Erin Van Dusen (Jeremy Russell) and Emileigh Douglas (Ian Douglas); nephew, Nolan Russell; nieces, Sofia Van Dusen, Meadow Van Dusen, Ellie Russell; and canine nephew, Hudson Douglas; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. A private, by invitation only, Celebration of Life to honor Evan's life will be held on July 1st in Halifax Regional Municipality. In memoriam and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Evan's memory to his Gofundme initiative at: https://www.gofundme.com/f/in-memory-of-evanvan-dusen.
