ERNST, Ronald Clarence “Ron”

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ronald “Ron” Clarence Ernst announces his sudden passing on Monday, May 29, 2023, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, with family at his side. Born in New Ross, he was a son of the late Clarence and Verna (Broome) Ernst. Ron was loved by so many and will be dearly missed. In his line of work, he met many wonderful people and made lasting friendships. He lived his life with kindness and compassion. He held many titles over the years, but his proudest was Grandad. His grandchildren meant the world to him, and he enjoyed spending time with them and on occasion spoiling them. Ron was a prominent businessman, starting early in his career with Mcalpine and Kaizer Construction Companies. It wasn’t long before he ventured out on his own, establishing Titan Construction. Through building his company he honed his skills and specialized in building and renovating dental offices. He had a true passion for the outdoors and loved everything from hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening. He was an avid gardener, having an abundance of flowers and vegetables. With vegetables, came pickling, and his kitchen skills were next to his “moms” pretty darn good. He is survived by his partner, Tracy Gates; son, Jason (Erin); sisters, Pauline Leopold and Sandra (Grant) Maclaughlin; brothers, John and Karl (Paulette); sister-in-law, Deborah Messom; brotherin-law, Leonard Fifield; mother-in-law, Jean Jollymore; grandchildren, Sydney, Emery and Finley; several nieces and nephews; as well as many cousins including special cousins, Anne Pudsey, Judy Mccullum, and Gary Lynch, to name a few. Aside from his wife Dianne and his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Michael; father-in-law, Basil Jollymore; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Fifield and Dora Ernst; brother-in-law, Granville Leopold; nephew, Peter Ernst; great-niece, Natalie Ernst and great-nephew, Jack Maclaughlin. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 10th in White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, with a reception to follow. For those unable to attend, a video will be available at the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the New Ross Volunteer Fire Department. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
