HFX Wanderers open 2023 season April 15 in Ottawa

The HFX Wanderers’ 2023 Canadian Premier League season kicks off Saturday, April 15 in Ottawa.

Patrice Gheisar will make his head coaching debut with the Wanderers against Atletico Ottawa, the reigning regular-season champion and playoff finalist. Game time is 2 p.m. AT at TD Place.

The league announced on Friday the matchups for the opening weekend of the 2023 season.

A west coast clash between host Pacific FC and the expansion Vancouver FC will open the season on the evening of April 14 in Langford, B.C.

The reigning CPL champion Forge FC welcomes Cavalry FC at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ont., on April 15. The following day, Valour will visit York United for a Sunday matinee in Toronto.

The remainder of the regular season schedule will be released in full on Monday.
