REED (Macdonald), Lois Isobel

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lois Isobel Reed (Macdonald) of Halifax, on January 23, 2023. Leaving to mourn with loving memories are her beloved husband of 69 years, Willard (Bill) Reed, sons, David (Sandy), William (Lynn) and Robert (Shelley); grandchildren, Carly (Logan), Kristopher, Stephen, Daniel (Alexandria), Charlotte and Lucas; her sister, Jeanette Macdonald (the late Rev. Dr. J.J. Harrold Morris); and her nieces, Tracey Methven (Dave Neale) and Nicole Methven (Paul Smith) along with many cherished friends. Lois was born in Orillia, Ont., on June 23, 1933. She eventually moved to Sudbury, Ont., with her family where she grew up, became a registered nurse, and met the love of her life. Bill and Lois married in 1954 and lived in a number of places including Winnipeg, Man., Ottawa, Ont., and Fredericton, N.B., eventually settling in Halifax. Lois dedicated her life to her husband and three boys. She was the backbone of the family and loved to tell stories about the mischief her boys got into growing up. She was a terrific cook and baker and some of her favourite moments were spent gathered around the table with family. Lois lived life to the fullest and we are blessed to have had her in our lives. The family would like to thank the staff at the Halifax Infirmary 8.1 who provided such wonderful care to Lois in her final days. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 1st from 6-8 p.m. A celebration of life will take place on Thursday, February 2nd at 2 p.m. in JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax followed by a reception. The service will be livestreamed, the link will be available on the funeral home website. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
