HURST, Sadie Katherine

Age 86, of Dartmouth, passed away January 26, 2023, in The Admiral Long Term Care Centre. Born in Earltown, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Bessie (Fowler) Sutherland. She was active in the Ladies Guild, Sunday School Superintendent for over 30 years and an Elder of St. Andrew’s Kirk Session. She was an avid knitter, knitting mittens and hats for all who were in need. Sadie is survived by son, Thomas (April Mcallister) Hurst; daughters, Katherine (Ken) Sloan, Jacqueline (Perry Normore) Hurst, she is also survived by sisters, Isabel Young and Thelma (Bill) Cross; grandchildren, Desiree, Ricky, Dayle, Victoria, Nicole; great-grandchildren, Cassandra, Helen, Kaitlin and Tommy; and many nephews and nieces. Sadie was predeceased by her loving husband, Gordon; brothers, Donald and Gordon and sister, Marion. Visitation will be held Monday, January 30th, 6-9 p.m. in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St., Dartmouth. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 31st, in St. Andrews’s Presbyterian Church, Rev. Dr. P.A. Sandy Mcdonald officiating. Interment in Earltown Church Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church or charity of choice.
