FAULKNER, Rodney Allison

Of Mission, B.C. It is with great sadness, his family announces the peaceful passing on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, of Rodney Allison Faulkner in his home province of British Columbia. Rodney was born on June 14, 1961, in Halifax, the first child of Richmond and Marion (Gourley) Faulkner. He is survived by his loving wife, Naoko; his mother, Marion; his brother, Dale (Susan) Faulkner; his sister, Joan (Alan) Gallant; and his niece and nephew, Kristy Faulkner and Mark Gallant. Rodney is also survived by his brotherin-law, Takeo (Shigemi) and their daughter, Aoi Kato; and his second parents, Yuzo and Sachiko Kato, of Kotanbetsu, Japan. He was predeceased by his father. Rodney loved fishing, hockey, kayaking, skiing and playing his guitar. He especially enjoyed travelling and spending time with Naoko. He was a dedicated husband and family man and showed a great commitment to his students — both near and far. He expressed unwavering positivity, despite any challenges he faced. He was an inspiration for each of his family members, and that extended to a much wider community over the course of his life. We will miss him. Over the past year, Rodney spoke many times about the dedicated health care professionals he had encountered. His family would like to thank these individuals for providing him with such thoughtful and compassionate care. A celebration of Rodney’s life will be planned for some time in the future.
