SCOTT, Mazie Cecilia

Age 81, of Kentville, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, with her sons by her side. Born in North Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Elmer Harris and Minnie (Osmond) (Harris) Macdougall; and stepdaughter to Dan Macdougall. Mazie had been employed in the kitchen at Saint Elizabeth Hospital and Harbourview Hospital, later working at Canard Poultry, from where she retired. She was a strong and caring mother and grandmother who loved unconditionally. She was a pillar of strength who earned her wings on earth. Although she lived as Mazie Scott, she was known by many family and friends simply as “Mom”. She was loved by everyone who had the privilege to meet her. She is survived by sons, Andrew “Andy” (Vera Maccormick), Torbrook West; Jamie (Casandra Wellwood), Chipman Corner; grandchildren, Joey, Michelle, Jeremy, Gregory, Samantha, Damien, Andrew and Abigail; greatgrandchildren, Anastasia, Kinsey, Isaac and Natalia; sister, Eleanor “Peg” Degaust, Kentville; stepsister, Thelma Macintyre, Sydney Mines; several nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years in 2003, George; daughters, Barbara and Cathy; sons, Frankie, Joey and George Jr.; grandchildren, Amanda, Tracey and Devin; stepsister, Elaine Chisholm; stepbrothers, Fred, Frankie, Jimmy, Roddy, Dougie and Danny. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service (with video webcast) and gathering will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 6th, in White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Father John Macpherson officiating. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to a charity of your choice. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the palliative care team, the Victorian Order of Nurses and the staff of Med B – Valley Regional Hospital for their care kindness and compassion.
