MacDONALD, Audrey Carolyn

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Audrey Carolyn Macdonald, 93, of Springhill at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Friday, September 30, 2022, with her children by her side. She was born in Mount Rose, a daughter of the late Warren W Rushton and Louise (Mackinnon) Rushton. Mom/"nan" worked for Maritime Tel & Tel for a number of years and, prior to our father Archie's death in 1969, operated a popular Taxi business for many years alongside him. She also worked with APRCHH as a night-aid for sixteen years. She was a member of the Ladies Wednesday Bowling League and also the Springhill Senior Citizens. She enjoyed playing cards and dancing and most of all spending time with her family. Mom was an excellent baker which ensured there were frequent visits from her children and others to her home. She also enjoyed her many walks and conversations with close friends Jerry, Doreen and Edie. Mom was a strong woman who fought through many struggles, including the death of her husband at the age of 47, following which she raised her seven children and to whom she provided much support over the years. She will be sadly missed by children, Douglas, Truro; Anne, Springhill; Dougal (Frances) Pugwash; Kathy (Ted) Cummings, Westville; Carolyn (Perry) Terris, Springhill; grandchildren, Carl, Jan, Brent, Craig, Katie, Jillian, Lindsay, Jonathan, Amy, Madonna, Blake, Chesley, Scott, David, Kathryn, Andreina, Kirk, Sarah, Jordan, and Rachael; 24 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Chambers; brother-in-law, Jack Macdonald; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by her first husband, Archie Macdonald; and her second husband, Ralph Hunter; her son, Carl Macdonald; and her daughter, Jeanie Chapman; a brother, Billie; and her sisters, Florence, Helen, and Blanche. Arrangements are under the care and supervision of A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 Macfarlane St., Springhill (902-597-2361). A time of public visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 6th, from 12–2 p.m. with a funeral service to follow with The Rev’d Dr. Brian Spence presiding. Donations in memory of Audrey may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice. Sharing of memories and condolences may be sent to the family by visiting the online memorial at: www.brownsfuneralhome.com or through the A.H. Brown Funeral Home Facebook Page.
