Second boy charged with murder in death of teen

A 17-year-old boy is now the second teen to be charged with first-degree murder in what is being investigated as Regina’s sixth homicide of 2022.

The boy was arrested late last week, according to a news release sent Monday by the Regina Police Service.

On June 29, at around 2:20 a.m., 911 calls came in requesting police to an alley behind the 1200 block of Rae Street, the release said. Once there, officers found a 14-year-old boy dead. As well, a 32-year-old woman was found injured and taken to hospital.

On June 30, police announced a 15-year-old boy had been charged with firstdegree murder in relation to the same incident. Police will not be naming the victim or those charged, in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the release said.

In addition to the murder charge, the 17-year-old faces charges of assault with a weapon and unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle.
