POWER (Greene), Marion Alice

Age 93, of New Minas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 14, 2022, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Port Williams, on January 14, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Alice (Rathburn) Greene. Marion grew up on the family farm in Pereaux, and later would graduate from Success Business College in Truro, before settling down and marrying her beloved husband of 68 years and together raised their family in New Minas. She was a faithful member of Pereaux Baptist Church and spent over 60 years serving as the church’s pianist. She was a long-time member of the Lola B. Eaton Auxiliary, a member of Kentville Kinettes Club, served on the Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered her time to local charities. Marion was a dedicated and supportive member of her church family and community. Marion enjoyed being social and enjoyed spending time with both friends and family. She lived life to the fullest and will be remembered fondly and missed by all. She is survived by her husband, Murray Power, New Minas; sons, David (Mary Lou) Power, Pereaux; Brian (Sharon) Power, Kentville; Kenneth Power, New Minas; granddaughters, Alison (Fenwick) Jeffrey, Quispamsis, N.B.; Katherine (Chris) Power, Moncton, N.B.; Andrea (Troy) Power, Halifax; grandson, Jason (Emily) Power, Bedford; greatgrandchildren, William and Violet Jeffrey, Quispamsis, N.B. and many other special relatives. She was predeceased by sister, Harriett Thorpe; brother-in-law, Emerson Thorpe; sister-inlaw, Anna-ruth Smith; sister-in-law, Margaret Delaney, and brother-in-law, Edward Delaney. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request. A funeral service will be held in White Family Funeral Home, Kentville on Saturday, May 21st at 2:30 p.m., Rev. Dr. Mark Parent and Rev. Gary Manthorne officiating. For those unable to attend, a video webcast of the service will be available at that time. Interment will take place in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory can be made to the Pereaux Baptist Church General Fund, the Victorian Order of Nurses Annapolis Valley or a charity of your choosing. The family wishes to extend special thanks to son, Kenneth, for his dedicated care of his mother allowing her to remain at home, and a special thanks to the VON Annapolis Valley for their care of Marion.
