Mental wellness prioritized at rcs construction

Understanding that happy employees translate into happy clients, the rcs construction team does its best to ensure employees are in a good headspace and able to achieve a healthy work/life balance.

Andrew Doucet, rcs’s Director of Construction, is also a board member of the Mental Health Foundation. He’s got his finger on the pulse of new metal wellness initiatives, ideas and issues — and Dena Hueston, rcs’s Director of Human Resources, is also a strong advocate for employee health, balance and benefits.

“We make it a point to be cognizant of what may be happening behind the scenes in each other’s lives and also employ an open-door policy, should anyone need someone to lean on,” explains Doucet.

If chatting with a colleague is not an option, rcs offers an Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP) as part of its benefit package. For those who like to exercise during times of stress, rcs has an on-site gym as well as a partnership with Goodlife Fitness. Hueston points out that rcs also does its best to provide an office environment that’s comfortable and

free of negativity with natural light, private offices, plenty of live plants and unlimited coffee and snacks.

rcs has recently partnered with Enriched Academy, who will provide financial education for all staff through live webinars and educational virtual portals. rcs has also started college bursaries for their employee’s children. Doucet says financial stress can be a huge factor in mental wellness, and they wanted to do something to alleviate some of that pressure from families.

“We recognize that everyone deals with challenges differently,” says Doucet. “That helps us ensure that we are being mindful and supportive when it comes to the health and well-being of our employees.”
