MCDANIEL, Charles Wilfred

Age 81 of Margaree Forks, passed peacefully on October 19, 2021, surrounded by family. Charles, the youngest son of the late Alexander J. Mcdaniel and Mary H. Macleod, was predeceased by his sons, Scott and Sean; brother, Alexander; infant sister, Laura; nephew, Ian; and brother-in-law, Claude. Charles will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Hilda (Shaw); sons, Wilfred (Melinda), Inverness; Kelly, Margaree Forks; Derek (Wendi), Fall River; daughters, Laverne (Andy), Dartmouth; and Laura (Brodie), Dartmouth. Charles will also be fondly remembered by his sister, Shirley Butler, Dartmouth; brother, Jim (Pamela), Elora, Ont.; as well as many nieces and nephews. Charles was especially proud of his 10 grandchildren, and great-grandson, Sean. Prior to starting his family, Charles served as an elected municipal councillor. This interest in politics and community endured for the remainder of his life. Charles never failed at keeping informed of current events and enjoyed visits with neighbors and friends greatly. Charles also enjoyed playing hockey in his younger days and carried this interest throughout his life. Charles worked in various jobs during his life but will be best remembered for raising his large family and managing his farm. He will truly be remembered for his strength and extremely hardworking nature. He lived a life spent outdoors working in the woods, fishing gaspereau in the spring on the Margaree River, tending to his large garden and making hay in the summer, among many other things. Charles thoroughly enjoyed nature and animals. His unique and varied knowledge of raising animals, running a farm, agriculture and the general history of the Margarees will truly be missed. Funeral service for Charles will be held in St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Eastern Passage, on November 4th at 2 p.m. with Father Gerald David officiating. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all who attend must show proof of double vaccination and government ID. Burial to take place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, North East Margaree at a later date. Many thanks to the numerous health care professionals who assisted Charles and his family. Donations in memory of Charles may be made to Charles’ home parish of St. Michael’s, East Margaree, https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/stmichaels-parish/ or MFOCC 1181 East Margaree Rd., East Margaree, Nova Scotia B0E 1Y0.
