MACLEAN, Catherine Julia

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Catherine Julia Maclean, age 71 of Antigonish, and formerly of Long Point, Inverness Co., on October 23, 2021 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. She was a daughter of Margaret (Beaton) and John R. Maclean. She is survived by her twin sister, Janice Macinnis (Angus); sisters, Anne Teresa Maclean and Mary Partridge (Bruce). She is also survived by nieces, Laura Maceachen (Darren), Jennifer Mombourquette (Danny), Marie Macinnis, Kimberly Banks (Stephen), Catherine Partridge, Margaret Partridge; and nephew, Roger Macinnis (Laurie). In addition, her dearly-loved grandnieces and nephews: Bryson, Kolton, Isla, Kate, Breagh, Leo, Daisy, Carson, and Lewis. She was predeceased by her father, John R.; her mother, Margaret; and her brother, Roddie. In her life, Julia had a great love and attachment to growing up at her family home in Long Point and at the family store. She made many meaningful friendships and connections throughout her life. Julia had a lifelong interest in sewing and textiles. She took great delight in making many lovely sets of dolls’ clothing for her nieces and teddy bears’ clothing for her nephew. Julia treasured dearly each one of her nieces and nephew, and all the special moments in their lives, and equally so for each of her grand nieces and nephews. Julia studied Education at St. Francis Xavier University, and went on to complete her Bachelor of Secretarial Arts. Julia always felt a deep attachment to her Celtic heritage and was honoured to receive the Celtic Medal of Achievement during her studies. She excelled in her career in office administration during her working years in Halifax. She was guided by her faith-filled life and the belief of the Goodness of God in her daily life. She loved nature, especially the beautiful wildflowers that grew near her family home. Her love of country and gospel music brought her a great sense of enjoyment throughout her life. The remains will rest in Green’s Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury with visitation from 2-6 p.m. today, Tuesday, October 26th. Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27th from St. Andrew’s Church in Judique. Interment in St. Andrew’s Parish Cemetery with Father Allan Macmillan officiating. Memorial donations may be made to R.K. Macdonald Nursing Home in support of Music Therapy programming. Arrangements are under the direction of Green’s Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
