THOMPSON (Dungale), Mildred Rose

With heavy hearts and great love, the family wishes to announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Mildred Rose Thompson (Dungale) of Markham, Ont. (formerly of Trenton and New Glasgow) in her 93rd year on September 14, 2021. For 92 years, Mom devoted her life to her family and community. She was a wonderful hostess and her home was always a soft place to land for many who needed a kind ear or solid refuge. Mom was a woman of great faith and has touched many lives with her insight and compassion, inspiring many in their own relationship with Christ. She cherished her friendships made in many churches and organizations in Pictou County and currently in Unionville Presbyterian Church (Ontario). In recent years, she anticipated the reunion with our father and “going home” was never feared. We will miss the twinkle in her eyes; her quick wit and laughter; her reassuring smiles and gentle hugs; her unconditional love and openness. We will always be grateful for the memories we have and the lessons she taught us, influencing the people we have become. She is survived by her children, Veronica (Gordon) Macdonald, New Glasgow; Lynn Thompson, Markham, Ont.; Peter (Joan) Thompson, New Glasgow; chosen daughter, Linda Olding, New Glasgow; daughterin-law, Paula (Rick) Behie, New Glasgow; and her siblings: brother, Donald (Anita) Dungale, Goderich, Ont.; sisters, Eleanor (Gerry) Dollmont, Clearwater, Fla.; Lorraine (Ray) Freeman, Calgary, Alta.; Dear to her heart are her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Melissa (Christoph), Gordon Jr., Michelle, Kyle, Tyler, Nikki (Josh); Ella, Zoe, Vincent, Madilyn, Liam; and her much loved nieces and nephews. Predeceased were her parents, Joseph and Millie Dungale; husband, Peter; son, Jim; brother, Joe Dungale; nephew, David Dollmont; sons-in-law, Tom Olding and Paul Thompson. A graveside service for family and friends will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, October 30th, in Lorne Street Cemetery, New Glasgow, with Rev. Dr. Morley Shaw officiating. Donations may be made to Unionville Presbyterian Church or the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. Condolences may be sent by visiting: www.rhporter.ca
