BILLIONAIRES OFF TRACK

Re: Ralph Surette’s Sept. 18 column, “Space tourism, Bitcoin prove we can’t stop guzzling energy.” I wish billionaire entrepreneurs like Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk would place a higher priority on financing ventures that would reduce carbon emissions rather than increasing them.

People sometimes criticize government for having the wrong priorities, and yet here are successful, bright people who seem to be putting their money in the wrong place.

Surely there must be profits to be made in companies that would invent technologies to reduce emissions and scrub carbon from our atmosphere. Why can’t they put their focus, money and talent there instead?
