SINGER, Bill

Of Yarmouth, more recently of Yarmouth Heights, died at the age of 96 on June 10, 2021 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Truro, he was a son of Charles and Elsie (Joel) Singer, and the last member of his immediate family. Bill was veteran of the Second World War. After the war he worked at radio station CJLS in Yarmouth, and then as Nova Scotia provincial organizer for the Progressive Conservative Party under Robert Stanfield, Ike Smith, and John Buchanan. He completed his working career as Chairman and CEO of the Nova Scotia Liquor Control Board. Bill’s family meant everything to him and he will be greatly missed. He is survived by daughter, Linda (Willard) D’eon, Yarmouth; grandson, Joel (Dr. Maya) D’eon, San Diego, Calif.; granddaughter, Dr. Tara (Gordon) Coletta and greatgrandchildren, Brennan, Aila, and Emmeline Coletta of Cobham, United Kingdom. He is also survived by his special nephew, Dan Macdonald, his wife Nancy, and their children Krista and Ryan, and other nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his wife, Barbara E. and his daughter, Barbara S;, brother, Doug and sisters, Doris and Winnie. Bill was an avid reader of all topics, a sport fisherman, and a bird hunter, but his passion was gardening, as demonstrated by the flower garden he planned and meticulously nurtured every year on King Street until just two years ago. Bill was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Thanks to Dr. Michelle Cain for her care over the years, and to the staff at Yarmouth Heights for their care over the last year. Cremation has taken place under the direction of H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. In accordance with Bill’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date.
