CORDIN (Hardin), Cecily Margaret

1984 - 2021. It is with overwhelming heartbreak and sadness that the family of Cecily Margaret Cordin shares the news of her passing on May 24, 2021 at the age of 36. Cecily passed away after a devastatingly brief battle with stage IV melanoma. Cecily was predeceased by her mother, Judith Obodov; and her beloved dog, Parker. She is lovingly remembered by her wife, Jennifer Cordin (Corning); daughter, Jess (4); father, Moh Hardin, stepmother, Cynde Grieve; brother, Justin Hardin; stepbrother, Evan Grieve (Hayley); and an assortment of pets. Also leaving to mourn are her in-laws, Corinne and Jim Corning; Lesley, Mark, Grace and Emma Farrow; and Dave Corning, Erin Bissonette, and their daughter Maddie Skye; as well as a wealth of cherished family and friends. To know Cecily was to love her. She exemplified strength and integrity, kindness and loyalty, and she, Cecily, had a huge heart - her lifelong mantra was “Love and Loyalty”. She was a caring and thoughtful friend who excelled at listening with genuine curiosity. She was amazingly calm and present with children, and connected with them and listened to them in a way that adults rarely do. She also had a direct and sarcastic sense of humour that brought many smiles and eye rolls; she was well-known for her bad jokes. She had a lifelong dedication to Shambhala Sun Camp, where she was known for her intense work ethic and ability to connect and be present in a way that impacted generations of young people. She also loved to spend time biking and playing basketball with her many friends. Cecily was a devoted wife to Jennifer. They were married on June 20, 2013 in a magical ceremony at the Shambhala Centre in Halifax. Their union, paired with Cecily’s strong leadership within the community, was an inspiration to a young LGBTQ2+ community. Cecily and Jennifer were small business owners together of Follow the Leader - she loved working alongside her wife as a dog walker. They were blessed with their daughter Jess on May 19, 2017, and she was the centre of their world. Memorial donations can be made to the Shambhala Sun Camp (shambhalasuncamp.org). Cecily would also love if many new babies could be named Cecily as she truly loved her name and the compliments it garnered. A celebration of her life will be hosted at a later date.
