FELLOWS, David William

It is with great sadness that the family of David William Fellows, Halifax, announces his passing at his home on Friday, June 4, 2021, at the age of 64. David was born in Halifax, on January 19, 1957. He was a son of Kenneth Fellows (deceased) and Marie (Corbett) Fellows. David’s greatest joy was being a father and he was devoted to his two children, Noel and Sarah. He was also a proud grandfather of two beautiful granddaughters, Breagh and Sophie. David was a gifted athlete from a young age, excelling at numerous sports before focusing on hockey. Much of his younger years were devoted to the sport. He was well-known for his speed, ability to score, and his overall tenacity while playing the game. David attended St. Mary’s University and was a member of the St. Mary’s Huskies Hockey Team from 1976 to 1979. He loved the outdoors and swimming in the ocean. In later years he developed a passion for boating and sailing. He could often be seen swimming or boating in the Northwest Arm throughout the summer months. David was a skilled tradesman and had a creative spirit; having designed many houses and buildings and other interesting projects. David was an avid reader of history, philosophy and English literature. He had a vast knowledge of history, economics, politics and current events. David had many talents, yet found joy in life’s simple moments, and valued family, kindness, and loyalty. He also had a great sense of humor and a friendly voice that would light up those around him. David is survived by his son, Noel Fellows (Janna Boutilier), Halifax; daughter, Sarah Fellows (John Barrette), Calgary; granddaughters, Breagh and Sophie; wife, Debbie Fellows, Halifax; brother, Joe; sisters, Mary and Trish, all of Halifax; nephews, Matthew Sampson, Halifax; Patrick Fellows, Mississauga, Ont.; Daniel Fellows, Milton, Ont.; Thomas O’handley, Halifax; and niece, Catherine O’handley, Halifax; and uncles, aunts and many cousins. Although heartbroken, we will take comfort from the wonderful memories we have of him. Cremation has taken place under the direction of JA Snow Funeral Home. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, interment will take place at a later date.
