Like it or not, more unsettled weather is coming

From reading people’s comments, many of us are tired of this backand-forth weather. I certainly am, and I may not have the news we all want.

This active weather pattern will continue as we close out the last week of January.

Our latest system clears Newfoundland early Tuesday, but another developing lowpressure system will arrive in Atlantic Canada right behind it.

A mix of light snow and rain showers will move west to east across the Maritimes Tuesday and Tuesday night.

Snow will change to rain for most of Newfoundland Tuesday night and Wednesday, except it will be mostly snow in western Newfoundland and southeast Labrador.

The system isn’t expected to clear eastern Newfoundland until Wednesday night or early Thursday.

These weather systems are weak, bringing trace to five centimetres of snow, although those in eastern Nova Scotia and across Newfoundland shouldn’t be surprised to see pockets over five centimetres.

Labrador will be spared most of this weather with the potential snow in the southeast Tuesday night into Wednesday, then just scattered chances of flurries for the second half of the week.

My attention is already turning towards the weekend.

There is early agreement from weather models that a storm will develop along the U.S. eastern seaboard, but just exactly how it will track and what we might receive is up in the air.

Significant precipitation and high winds will be something to watch for.

Let’s remember that it’s only Tuesday, so there is still a lot of time for this weather system to figure itself out.

Nonetheless, it’s on my radar and I will provide further updates as details become clearer.
