DEWEY (Munsie), Georgie Stewart

Age 87, of Trenton, passed away peacefully in Aberdeen Hospital on Saturday, January 22, 2022. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of late Clyde and Annie (Casey) Munsie. Georgie was a long-time member of First United Church, Trenton, where she was involved with many committees, served at one time as Sunday School Superintendent and was a member of the United Church Women (UCW Treasurer 50 plus years). She was the secretary for the Pictou County Council of Churches for 28 years and a member of Eastern Star for 68 years where she held many offices. Georgie was a dedicated volunteer and was recognized in 2017 by the Town of Trenton and the Province of Nova Scotia for her service to others. Georgie is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Charles; daughter, Mary Ellen Mackay (Allan), Whiting, Maine; son, Robert (Sherma), Dartmouth; and daughter-in-law, Krista Dewey, Fall River; grandchildren, Ryan (Sarah), Christopher (Maeve), Kaitlyn, and Benjamin; great-grandchildren, Austin, Riley, and Brynna. In addition to her parents, Georgie was predeceased by her son, David Wayne, and brother, John Francis. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family service will be held Wednesday, January 26th. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Georgie’s memory to the NSCC David Dewey Community Inspiration Award (https://support.nscc.ca/Daviddeweymemorial) or to the charity of your choice. A sincere thank you to the Pictou County VON for making her last months at home comfortable and to the nurses and doctors in the Palliative Care Unit of Aberdeen Hospital for their compassionate care during her time in the hospital.
