BOOSTED IS BEST

I am easily confused by numbers. So I have attempted to set a common base from which to compare the number of persons, by vaccination status, in hospitals in Nova Scotia.

If we reference each vaccination status group (boosted, fully, partially, none) to “persons per 100,000,” we will find that (as of Friday, Jan 21, 2022), 3.8, 6.4, 5.3, and 19.4 individuals admitted to hospital with COVID-19 have had, respectively, three, two, one, or no vaccinations.

We can choose to look at these numbers in separate ways. For each “boosted” individual admitted with COVID-19, there are five times as many unvaccinated individuals admitted. However, if I do not distinguish myself from other vaccinated individuals in general (regardless of number of shots), I will see that for each vaccinated individual admitted there are 1.24 unvaccinated individuals admitted. One way or another, we are better off vaccinated. But boosted is best.
