HENNIGAR (Osborn), Beverley Adele

May 26, 1943– October 25, 2021. Died peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of Monday, October 25, 2021. She spent the days prior to her passing surrounded by her loving husband, Blois; her children, Craig, Dale and Susan; and some of her eight grandchildren. Bev was a bright light who brought joy and warmth to everyone who was fortunate to know her. She was famous for welcoming people into her life and her home. Bev grew up in Montreal, Que., and attended Macdonald College and Mcgill University, earning a Bachelor of Education in 1964. She also earned a Special Education certificate from Brock University. As a teacher, Bev was a passionate educator, with an inquisitive nature, whose joy of learning inspired a countless number of students. She taught elementary school in Montreal, Toronto, Ont., and Oakville, Ont., taking a break from teaching to focus on raising her kids and volunteering at schools, churches, and beyond. Bev met the love of her life, Blois, in 1964 in Montreal. They married in 1966 and over their 55 years of marriage lived coast to coast, making lifelong friends everywhere they made their home. While raising their kids, they lived in Montreal, Ottawa, Ont., Etobicoke, Ont., Beaconsfield, Que., Oakville, Ont., Vancouver, B.C., and back to Oakville, Ont. While home cities changed, the family cottage at Lake Louisa, Que., in the Laurentians was a constant. Bev grew up going to the Lake, and she passed on a love of it to her children. In 2000, Bev and Blois left Ontario, and headed to Blois’s home province of Nova Scotia. Their beautiful home in Amherst was a gathering point for friends and family for the 17 years they lived there. Bev developed a love of sailing while in Ontario and packed up their boat for the move out east. In a search for the perfect wind, Bev and Blois discovered the Bras D’ors Lakes and soon realized that a large home on the water was far more suitable for entertaining than a sailboat. Their Cape Breton home was a beacon for friends and family looking for Bev’s signature hospitality. In 2017, Bev and Blois moved to Halifax, where she lived until her death. Bev will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Blois, Halifax; son, Craig (Susan), Langley, B.C.; daughters, Dale (Andrew) Noseworthy, Halifax; and Susan (Craig) Duhamel, Toronto; brother Jonathan (Karen) Osborn, Germantown, Ill.; grandchildren, Brittany (Bryndon), Spencer (Abby), Lauren, Allie, Bridget, Jillian, Russell and Brooke; great-grandchild Owen; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Her parents, Albert Vaughan Osborn and Adele Evangeline Osborn (Lortie), predeceased her. Bev was an active supporter and champion of the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay For Life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or to your favourite charity. A memorial honouring Bev’s life will be held on Friday, November 12th at 2 p.m. in Trinity St. Stephen’s United Church in Amherst. A remote viewing will be made available.
