HOPKINS (DAVIDSON), Emmalee Mary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Emmalee Mary Hopkins (Davidson) age 88, on May 3, 2021 in Ivany Place, Bedford. Emmalee was born in Brantford, Ont., and was predeceased by her parents, Mary Lee and Wilfred Davidson; and sister, Joan (Robert) Boyer. Mom enjoyed travelling. As a young woman her travel adventures included working in London, where she attended a garden party hosted by the Queen in honour of her coronation in 1953, visiting her sister in Paris and Montevideo and meeting Elvis Presley in Nashville. For several years Emmalee operated Oceanus Cottages in Green Bay, and was an active member of the South Shore Tourism Association and Bridgewater United Church. She loved the beaches along the South Shore, Crescent Beach was her favorite, and enjoyed photographing coastal scenery. In later years Mom moved to Halifax to be closer to her family, and then to Ivany Place where she enjoyed many activities and friendships. Mom had a sweet sense of humour and was always ready for a laugh and a teasing. Emmalee is survived by her beloved daughters, Mary Anne Hopkins and Heather Kilby; and grandsons, Drew Kilby and Kyle Kilby. She was so very proud of Drew and Kyle and their accomplishments. We will miss her dearly. We wish to express deep gratitude to the staff of Ivany Place, especially those working in Seaside Cove for their wonderful care and friendship over the years. Mom was also very fond of Sage the mischievous resident cat. A private family gathering will be held. Emmalee had a love for all animals.
