Salmon Festival boasts wide variety of events and activities

The lineup for the Salmon Festival in Grand FallsWindsor will feature several familiar musical acts and a slew of events taking place from July 13 to 17.

“This year’s event lineup for the Kelly Ford Exploits Valley Salmon Festival is excellent,” said Mayor Barry Manuel in a news release.

“The Town of Grand FallsWindsor is proud to continue this community tradition and we’re looking forward to providing our residents and visitors to our town with a spectacular five days of music, food, fun and lifelong memories.”

Festival events start Thursday, July 13 with a salmon dinner and a 75th anniversary celebration. A concert in the park featuring the Ennis Sisters and Landlocked will be held July 14, along with a heritage mug-up and a guided walking tour.

There will be a golf tournament on July 15 and a songwriters circle featuring Matthew Hornell and Christian Howse. A celebration of international flavours is also planned for Saturday, with an around-the-world food night and music from Bic and the Ballpoints.

On July 15, an open house will feature music from Nodda Nonata and The Rivermen.

Matthew Hornell returns to the bill on July 16 for an adventure day and a pub crawl with more music from Nichole Goudie and Charlotte Carey.

The Irish Descendants and Three’s a Crowd will play as part of a family day on July 17, along with a comedy night as part of the Best Kind Comedy Tour.

While some events will have admission fees, the town will offer many free events. More details, along with the full schedule of festival events, can be found at www. evsalmonfestival.com.
