211 NL launches new website

211 Newfoundland and Labrador (211NL), launched on Oct. 15, 2020, has supported Newfoundlanders and Labradorians by providing free, 24⁄ 7/ 365 referral and information services connecting those in need with the appropriate government and community sector supports.

Demand for the service continues to grow, from just a handful of calls to an average of over 300 calls each month.

211 is a confidential information and referral service and is offered in over 150 languages including those of Canada’s First Nations. Staffed by trained and accredited navigators, 211NL maintains a vast database of government and communitysector programs and services to ensure that Newfoundlanders and Labradorians can access the best support when they are needed by simply dialing 211.

In addition to the 211-call line, 211NL was expanded on Oct. 15, 2021, to offer a complete, publicly available, online database to enable anyone to find the nearest community resource:

www.Nl.211.ca will provide user-friendly access to an expansive database of available resources and services for a variety of needs including:

– Mental health and addictions

– Housing

– Food security

– Family shelters

– Services for seniors – Newcomer support

– And much more

211 NL is an initiative of United Way Newfoundland and Labrador (UWNL).
