Syrup flows fast in Fenwick

FENWICK, N.S. – Donkin’s Maple Sugar Woods in Fenwick has still been busy. Employees at Donkin’s say the weekend crowds recently attracted hundreds of people but the March break group wasn’t as busy as in the past, which is probably due to social distancing mandates implemented because of the coronavirus. This year’s boiling of sap started Feb. 26 at Donkin’s, which was much earlier than the March 12 start to the 2019 maple syrup-making campaign. The first boil in 2018 was Feb.16, 2017 was Feb. 23, 2015 was March 12, 2014 was Feb. 26, and in 2013 it was on March 4.
