NAPPAN, N.S. – Four dogs and 50 cats currently call the L.A. Animal Shelter their home. “People are more than welcome to visit the animals, just make a call and make an appointment and we’re more than happy to help you out,” Geoff Drummond, manager at the L.A. Animal Shelter, says. Making appointments became necessary following the COVID-19 outbreak and the social distancing that comes along with it. Drummond said March Break traffic is down, both from visitors and volunteers, because of the new rules, adding that the rules are necessary to keep staff and volunteers healthy by minimizing exposure to the public. The shelter apologizes for the inconvenience. It also has a Facebook page which staff will update once things return to normal. Anybody interested in visiting the L.A. Animal Shelter can make an appointment by calling 902-661-7297. It is located at 798 Smith Street, just south of Amherst.
